Damian Torres-Botello

Damian earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Saint Mary and was an original member of Social Theatre of Kansas City and Full Circle Theatre Company.  Many themes found in his plays are generated through the principles of Theatre of the Oppressed and his belief that theatre has the opportunity to “enlighten and transform.”  His efforts with HIV/AIDS, LGBT rights, child advocacy, religion & sexuality, the severely impoverished, and homelessness are reflected in his works.  He is a founding member of Writing Out Loud and serves on the board for Theatre for Young America (TYA).  He has taught playwriting workshops both independently and for the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre and is a columnist for Camp and KCMetropolis.org.  He is a member of The Dramatist Guild of America, Inc.  Visit his blog at www.damian327.blogspot.com.
